How to add recent blog posts to your BigCommerce store

In this guide, you’ll learn how to display blog posts from your DropInBlog account on any page of your BigCommerce store. Instead of copying and pasting the blog links manually, you’ll just drag and drop the Recent Posts widget to your homepage, products page, or any other BigCommerce page.

Steps for adding recent posts to BigCommerce

Step 1: Open the BigCommerce page builder

From your BigCommerce dashboard, select StorefrontTheme from the menu on the left. Then, locate your current theme and click on Edit in Page Builder.

Use the dropdown in the upper-left to select the page where you’ll display recent blog posts.

Step 2: Add the Recent Posts widget

Select the Widgets tab from the menu on the left, and look for the Recent Posts – DropInBlog widget in the Custom section.

Click and hold the Recent Posts – DropInBlog widget and drop it where you want it to appear.

Step 3: Configure the Recent Posts widget settings

After you’ve placed the widget onto the page, you’ll see its settings menu on the left.

In this menu, you can adjust the following:

  • Change the section name from the default Recent Posts to anything you want (e.g., “From our blog”).
  • Set the number of posts you want to be shown.
  • Choose how the posts will be displayed – as a list of links (Link) or in a card view (Posts).
  • Filter your posts by category, and have the widget display only the posts from a specific category.

Step 4 (Optional): Configure Filter by category settings

If you decide to display blog posts from a specific category, you’ll need to add the category slug into the box under Filter by category.

You’ll find the category slug on the Categories page of your DropInBlog account, under the kebab menu next to the category of your choice.

Click on the Copy Slug option, then return to the BigCommerce editor and paste the slug into the box under Filter by category.

Step 5: Save your changes

If you want to see how the Recent Posts widget will look without making the changes on your live site, click on the Save button in the top-right of the editor.

Then, when you’re ready to show the widget on the live site, click on the Publish button, right next to Save.

Now, your visitors can easily view your posts and access your blog from any page of your BigCommerce store.

Happy blogging!
