# How to add videos to your blog post

DropInBlog allows you to add videos to your blog posts by pasting links or embedding them into your content.

## Adding videos
Most video platforms are supported, but with YouTube and Vimeo, you can use both a video URL and embed code. For other platforms, you can add a video only by embedding a video code.

To add a video, start a new post, or edit an existing one to open the editor.
### Adding videos by URL
Once in the editor, look for the **video icon** in the toolbar at the top.

Visit YouTube or Vimeo to find the video you want to add, and copy the short link from the **Share** menu.

Go back to the post editor, click the video icon, and paste the URL below the **link** icon.

Select **Insert** to add the video to your post.

You'll see a video preview in the editor.

Videos can't be played inside the editor, so publish the post to watch them.

### Accepted link formats

**YouTube**
* Share link: `https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID`
* Address bar link: `https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID`

**Vimeo**
* Video link: `https://vimeo.com/VIDEO_ID`
* Link copied from Vimeo's Share menu (extra text such as `?share=copy` on the end is fine)
* Player link: `https://player.vimeo.com/video/VIDEO_ID`

The link must point to a single video. Links to a Vimeo profile or showcase page are not accepted, and the editor shows a message saying so.

**Start times**
If the link includes a start time, the video on the published post starts from that point. The start time is only visible on the published post.

* YouTube: `https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID?t=90` or `https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID&t=1m30s` (on YouTube, use Share and tick **Start at** to get this link)
* Vimeo: `https://vimeo.com/VIDEO_ID#t=1m30s`

The time can be written as seconds (`90` or `90s`) or as minutes and seconds (`1m30s`).

### Embedding video code
If you're using a video service other than YouTube or Vimeo, add the video with embed code. You can also embed YouTube and Vimeo this way instead of pasting a URL.

Click the **video** icon and select the **Embedded code** tab.

Copy the embed code from the video platform where your video is hosted.

Paste the code into the text box and click **Insert**.

That’s it!
### Embedding YouTube Shorts
One thing to keep in mind is that YouTube Shorts can only be added via embedded code.

To copy the embedded code, open a YouTube Shorts video, and after you right-click on it, select **Copy embed code**.

Then click on the video icon inside the DropInBlog editor, and paste the copied code into the Embedded Code tab.
## Repositioning videos
It’s also possible to move the video within the editor.

To do that, click anywhere on the video preview, drag it, and then drop it into the desired location.

## Replacing videos
You also have the option to change the video you added to your post.

First, click the video preview, and select the **two arrows** below it.

Clicking the two arrows will open the link field, where you can add a URL or embed code of another video.

Don’t forget to click the **Insert** button to save your changes.
## Deleting videos
If you want to delete a video, click on the video preview, and select the **trash** icon to remove it from your post.

| Bonus: Most videos will be lazy-loaded with video schema for SEO and user experience purposes. Rest assured your posts with videos will load super fast and be Google-friendly.
And that’s how you add, replace, and delete videos in your blog posts.

Happy blogging!
