Blog categories
Learn about DropInBlog categories and how to add them to your blog.
Click Categories on the navigation menu and select Add category to add a new one.
Or click any existing category’s name to make changes.
If you want to change the order in which the categories appear on your blog, use the up and down arrows on the left to rearrange their order.
When you add a new category to your blog, this is the information you can add to it:

Title: Enter the name of your category, e.g., “tips” or “product updates.” This will also be used as the SEO Page Title.
Slug: This field will be automatically populated when you enter a category’s name. It will match your category’s name and, if the category name has more than one word, the slug will have hyphens between words instead of spaces. This slug will serve as the URL to your category page.
SEO Title: The title you add here is what will be displayed on the first line of search engine results. If you leave it blank, it will default to your category’s title.
SEO Description: This field acts as the category meta description in search results and should be used to provide a brief explanation of what your category is about. The image below shows the SEO title (1) and description (2) of our Tips category in search results.

Private Category: Checking this option for a category will hide the category from your blog’s category menu. Any posts you assign to a private category won’t be visible on your blog’s homepage. However, visitors will be able to access these posts directly via their URL. Keep in mind that if you assign a post to two categories, one of which isn’t private, the post will be visible on your blog’s homepage.
Hide From Category Menu: If you don’t want a category to show in your blog’s homepage category menu, check this box to hide it. Keep in mind that anyone with the URL of this category can still view it, and any posts in this category will still be visible on your blog’s homepage..
Remove Posts From Main Blog Page: Any posts you add to this category won’t be shown on your blog homepage unless they are included in another visible category. The category name, however, will show in the category menu on your blog homepage.
Hide From Crawlers: Check this box to add a “noindex” meta tag to the category’s post list. This ensures that the category page itself will not be indexed by crawlers. Note that if you want posts within this category to not be indexed, you’ll have to assign the “noindex” meta tag to each post individually in the post editor.
Heading Description: Enter a brief category description here to have it displayed at the top of the category page.

Upload Background Image: You can also add a background image to the header section of your category page. Click on Select Image and upload an image for your category preferably 1200 pixels wide or higher.
After you add all the category details, make sure to save your changes.
Happy blogging!
