Enabling comments on your blog via ReplyBox

With DropInBlog, you can enable comments on your blog via Disqus. In addition to Disqus, DropInBlog supports any blog commenting system that provides you with an embed code. ReplyBox is one of these tools, and in this guide, we’ll show you how to add it to your DropInBlog blog.

Keep in mind that ReplyBox doesn’t have a free plan, so you’ll need to subscribe to one of the paid plans. Alternatively, you can test the commenting system with a free trial.

Step 1: Sign up on ReplyBox (or log in)

If you don’t already have a ReplyBox account, visit the ReplyBox website and create one.

During signup, you’ll need to create your login credentials and verify your email address.

If you already have a ReplyBox account, log in, and proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Add your site to ReplyBox

Click on the Add Site button on the right side of your ReplyBox dashboard.

Add a site to ReplyBox

Doing so will open a new window. Here, enter your website name and URL. Make sure to select Universal Code under Embed Method, then click on Create to get your embed code.

Add site details in ReplyBox

Next, you’ll see a new window containing your site’s embed code.

Leave this tab open, then head to your DropInBlog account.

Step 3: Create a Smart Snippet

In your DropInBlog account, open the Smart Snippets™ page, then click on Add Snippet to create a new one.

Create a new snippet in DropInBlog

Once in the Snippet editor, select Code View, then copy the first line of code from ReplyBox and paste it into the content area.

Add site code from ReplyBox to DropInBlog's Snippets editor

Return to ReplyBox, and this time, copy the second line of code, go back to the Snippet editor, and paste that code right under the first one.

Add the second line of ReplyBox site code to DropInBlog

Before you save the changes, use the right side of the Snippet editor to name your snippet (1) (e.g., “Comments”), activate it (2), and select where you want it to appear (3).

Smart Snippet settings in DropInBlog

To have your comments appear below all of your posts, use these settings:

  • Under Snippet Location, select Targeting.
  • Under Targeting Position, select after and content.
  • And under Post to Target, select All Posts.

Don’t forget to click on the Save Snippet button at the bottom of the Snippet editor.

With these settings, your comments will appear below each blog post, before related posts.
