DropInBlog integration guide for Thinkific

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps of adding a blog to your Thinkific site. You’ll install the DropInBlog app, create a custom Thinkific page, and add DropInBlog to that page. We’ll also show you how to check whether your blog is working properly and how to access your DropInBlog account from your Thinkific dashboard.

Prerequisites

To install the DropInBlog app, you need to be subscribed to Thinkific’s Basic plan or higher. You don’t need to create a DropInBlog account separately, as one will be created automatically after you install the app.

Integration Steps

To add a blog to Thinkific, you’ll need to complete four steps:

Step 1: Install the DropInBlog app

Navigate to Thinkific’s App Store by opening the Integrations tab in your Thinkific account, then clicking the Explore apps button.

Once you’re in the App Store, use the search bar to find the DropInBlog app, and click on the app’s listing preview to open its full listing page. You can also access the app directly by following this link.

On the app’s page, click on the Install button on the left side of the page.

On the following screen, click on Accept & Install to grant DropInBlog the necessary permissions.

On the next screen, you’ll see the option to invite your team members to help you manage your blog. To invite a user to DropInBlog, enter their email address, assign them a user role, then click on Send Invites.

Choose I’ll do this later if you want to skip this step or send invites to your teammates later.

Another pop-up you’ll see before finalizing the app installation is the discount offer. You can claim it by adding your credit card number on this screen.

At this point, the DropInBlog app is installed, and a DropInBlog account has been created for you automatically. However, you still have a couple more steps to finish setting up your blog.

Step 2: Create a new custom page in Thinkific

To proceed with the blog integration process, return to your Thinkific dashboard.

Here, you’ll need to create a new custom page. To do that, go to Channels, then Website.

Select the Custom pages tab, then click on the New custom page button on the right.

A pop-up window will appear where you should enter the name of your page (e.g., “blog”), then click on the Create page button in the bottom-right to launch the page editor.

Step 3: Add DropInBlog to your custom page

Once you’ve created a new page and opened the page editor, you need to add DropInBlog to that page.

Before you do that, we suggest removing the banner section. This section will be automatically added to your new page, and deleting it will free up more space for your blog content.

To add DropInBlog, click on Add section using the menu on the left.

A pop-up window will appear. Scroll all the way down until you see a blog section under DropInBlog. Click on it to add it to your page.

The blog will be added to your page. To save your changes, click on the Save button in the upper right.

Step 4: Verify the integration

While you’re still in Thinkific’s page editor, click on the link icon to copy the link of your blog page. You’ll need to paste this link into the text box under Blog Page URL in your DropInBlog account.

You’ll find this field on the Code & Layout page of your DropInBlog account. You’ll first need to expand the Verify Installation menu, then click on the Verify Integration button.

Next, you’ll see a text box under Blog Page URL, which is where you should paste the blog link you’ve previously copied.

Click on the Check Integration button, and if you’ve set everything up correctly, you’ll see a success message: Your blog is live.

If you don’t see this message, use the Message us link to contact DropInBlog support.

How to access your DropInBlog account from Thinkific

After you add a DropInBlog blog to your Thinkific site, you can start adding your content. You’ll be doing this from the Posts page of your DropInBlog account. The blog posts you create in DropInBlog will be automatically displayed on your Thinkific site.

To access your DropInBlog account from your Thinkific dashboard, click on the Integrations tab, then find DropInBlog under your installed apps. When you click on the Visit website link, you’ll be taken to the Posts page of your DropInBlog account.

From here, you can start a new blog post by clicking on the Add Blog Post button.

If you’re not sure what to write about, you can use DropInBlog’s Blog Pilot™ to generate blog post ideas and create outlines in minutes. Simply click on Blog Pilot™ using the left-hand side menu, then click on Build My Roadmap to start the content planning tool.

When you add some content to your blog, you should add a link to it in your site’s navigation menu so that visitors can easily find and access your blog. We have a separate support doc that explains how to do that.

Troubleshooting

Your blog should be live, but if for some reason it’s not showing on your Thinkific site, check the following:

  • After you’ve added the blog section to your new Thinkific page, you’ve clicked on the Save button in the upper right of the editor.

  • Your blog page visibility is set to Everyone. You’ll find the visibility settings when you click on the cog icon in the editor, under the Who can see this page? section.

If you’ve changed the URL of your blog page, you need to get in touch with DropInBlog support to sync the changes.

Next steps

Now that your Thinkific blog is live, you should consider completing the following tasks:
