DropInBlog Integration Guide for FreshLearn

In this guide, you’ll learn how to create a blog on FreshLearn using DropInBlog. You’ll create a new page in FreshLearn for your blog, add a custom code block, and paste your DropInBlog code inside this block. When you sync your FreshLearn site with DropInBlog, all your blog posts created in DropInBlog will automatically show up on your FreshLearn website.

Prerequisites

Before you start the integration process, you’ll need:

  • A DropInBlog account
  • A paid FreshLearn account (Pro plan or higher)

Integration Steps

To create a blog on FreshLearn with DropInBlog, follow these steps:

Step 1: Create a New Page in FreshLearn

Open your FreshLearn dashboard, then go to WebsitePages using the left-hand side menu.

Once you’re on the Pages tab, click on the Add New Page button to create a new page for your blog.

On the following page, select Blank Page at the top right to open the content editor.

This will take you to the editor. The banner section will be added by default. If you want, remove it by selecting the trash icon that appears when you hover over it.

Step 2: Add a Custom Code Block

Next, click on the Add Block button in the top-left corner.

Selecting this option will open a new window where you should find and select the Custom Code block.

Step 3: Add Your DropInBlog Code

When you add a Custom Code block to your FreshLearn page, you’ll see a slide-out menu on the right, where you should add the code from your DropInBlog account.

Head over to your DropInBlog’s Code & Layout page and copy the code under Blog Script.

Return to FreshLearn and paste that code under Body Script.

Then return to DropInBlog again, but this time, copy the code under Blog Container.

Go back to FreshLearn and paste that code under HTML Code.

To save your changes, click on the Save button in the lower-right corner of the Custom Code window.

Before you view your blog, click on the Settings button in the top right.

A new window will open where you can customize your blog’s title and slug.

For the title and the blog URL, use something descriptive like “our blog” or the name of your blog.

Don’t use just “blog” for the URL of your new blog page because that is reserved for FreshLearn’s built-in blog. So if you set “blog” as the slug for your DropInBlog page, the link will redirect your visitors to the native blog you get from FreshLearn instead of your new DropInBlog blog.

Step 4: Set your blog URL in DropInBlog

The final step of the integration is to copy your blog URL, which you’ll find on the Pages page of your FreshLearn account next to your blog page.

Copy that URL and go to DropInBlog’s Settings page, then paste the URL under Blog URL.

Once you save your changes, your blog will be up and running!

If you want to make your blog page easily accessible to your site visitors, you should add it to your site’s navigation menu.

To do that, select the Navigation tab under Website, then click on the Add Link button in the top-left corner of the Header section.

This will open a new window. Here, you should name your link, e.g., “Blog,” select FreshLearn Page under Link Type, and under Page, find and select the blog page you’ve just created.

Once done, don’t forget to save your changes.

Verify the Integration

Now that your FreshLearn blog is live, you should check if everything works correctly.

You can verify the integration from your DropInBlog account. Open the Code & Layout page, and if the setup instructions are contracted, click on View Setup Instructions to expand them.

Once you expand the menu, you’ll see the Verify Integration button. Click on it.

Then, you’ll see your blog URL and a red Check Integration button.

Click on that button, and if you’ve performed all the integration steps correctly, you’ll see a “your blog is live” message in a green box.

If your blog isn’t showing on your FreshLearn site, contact the DropInBlog support team by clicking on the Message us link.

Troubleshooting (Optional)

In some cases, your blog may not show up on your FreshLearn site for the following reasons:

  • If you don’t see the blog you just created with DropInBlog, check its URL. If the URL slug is set to “blog,” it will display your site’s built-in blog. Change the slug to anything other than “blog” to fix this issue.
  • Your blog code isn’t added to the right sections in FreshLearn. If that happens, go back to Step 3 of this guide and redo the steps.
  • You’ve changed the blog URL in FreshLearn, but didn’t update it in DropInBlog. To fix this, copy the URL of your blog in FreshLearn and paste that URL on the Settings page of your DropInBlog account.
  • If the blog shows up in an iframe, you’ve used the Embed block instead of the Custom Code block. To fix that, delete the Embed block and restart the integration process from Step 2.
